Gemma Ryan
Director
After training in Cambridge, England at the Bodyworks Company Gemma returned to the North East where she completed her HND in Sport & Exercise. Aged 19 years Gemma became Principal of Dancewise Performing Arts where she enjoyed 14 successful years developing and nurturing her pupils and staff. Gemma has trained several students to become qualified teachers and also had students achieve success in the West End. Gemma is thrilled to be the Director of this amazing new arts centre and looks forward to passing on her experience to the next generation.
Ann Naylor
Principal
Original founder of Dancewise Performing Arts in 1990. Ann’s love for teaching came at a very young age when she coached her school friends through their tap exam, aged just 12 years! She has then gone on to teach local and national champions and has more recently been the resident tap teacher at Harbour Dance Centre in Vanvouver, Canada. Ann strongly believes that all children can achieve their own personal goals with the right support.
Lana Walker
Head of Musical Theatre
Lana trained at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts as an Actor Musician. Since graduating, Lana has worked professionally with a number of theatre companies including, Northern Stage in ‘James and the Giant Peach’, The Orange Tree Theatre in ‘I Happen to like New York’ and The New Wolsey Theatre in the rock ‘n’ roll pantomime ‘Little Red Riding Hood’. Lana has also worked as a session singer on the films ‘Pan’ and ‘Kung Fu panda 3’. Lana loves teaching and delights in seeing pupils unlock their true potential in a relaxed and creative environment. Lana is very much looking forward to sharing the skills she has acquired, and the up to date knowledge she has gained as a professional in the industry, with students at Terpsichore.
Mandy Watson
R.A.D Ballet Teacher
With over 33 years of teaching experience in all genres of dance Mandy’s main love is Ballet. Her career started when she owned her own touring Cabaret company which won best show group in Great Britain. Mandy has many credits to her resume including working and choreographing for big names such as Sir Tom Jones, Bob Monkhouse, Ronnie Corbett and Norman Wisdom. Mandy is proud to be an ambassador for the prestigious Royal Academy of Dance and is looking forward to working in the Teesside area at Terpsichore Arts Centre to help the next generation of Ballerina’s nurture their love for dance.
Tyla Earl
Acro - Gymnastics & Tumbling Coach
Tyla has trained and competed in Women’s Artistic Gymnastics for Redcar Gymnastics Club since the age of 4. She excelled on all 4 pieces – Floor, Vault, Beam and Bars and competed at Regional and National levels. Tyla also trained as a Tumbler for 2 years at Deerness Gymnastics Academy. She now coaches her own Elite Teams of gymnast at local clubs. Alongside Tyla’s gymnastics training she also studied dance disciplines – RAD Ballet, Jazz, Acro and Tap. Tyla was awarded Sports Person of the Year (North of England) for her commitment to gymnastics in 2014 and a BATD Jazz Scholarship in 2012. Tyla is looking forward to joining the Terpsichore team and helping to develop local children with their Acro – Gymnastics and Tumbling skills.
Emily Daniels

Emily graduated from Bird College in London with a professional diploma in Musical Theatre. Her credits include - Mamma Mia where she played understudy Sophie for Royal Caribbean international, All or Nothing as ensemble/ Dance captain in London’s West End and Dance Captain for Qdos pantomimes in Aladdin and Snow White. Emily is excited to join the team here at Terpsichore.
